Ingraham Slams Sanctuary Policies: ‘California Is Almost Acting Like It’s a Separate Country’

In her monologue Thursday night, “Ingraham Angle” host Laura Ingraham sounded off on the sanctuary city debate and the “radical takeover of California.”

Ingraham said California’s sanctuary policies have endangered the lives of American citizens and law enforcement, which is why the Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the state, claiming three recently passed state laws are deliberately interfering with federal immigration policies.

She explained that one of the laws gives state officials the power to monitor and inspect immigrant detention facilities either run directly by, or contracted through, the Department of Homeland Security.

Another protects immigrants without legal residency by limiting state and local cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), including what information can be shared about detained illegal immigrants.

The third prevents private companies from voluntarily cooperating with ICE.

“California is almost acting like it’s a separate country altogether, not a separate state,” Ingraham said, adding that California’s liberal lawmakers are “living in an alternative universe.”

She said that the Justice Department’s lawsuit may have “triggered” some of these lawmakers, but it could be a much-needed step toward restoring “sanity” to the nation’s most populous state.

She noted that the embrace of illegal immigrants — along with liberal social welfare policies — have plunged the state into a spiral of homelessness.

“[Attorney General Jeff] Sessions and the Trump administration are throwing the Golden State a lifeline with these sanctuary lawsuits. Because if they’re successful, perhaps the ‘good vibrations’ — political and otherwise — can roll through California once again.”
