‘We’re Waiting’: Lawyer for Vegas Victims Calls for Rest of Surveillance Video to Be Released

Newly released video by MGM Resorts shows Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino wheeling around luggage filled with weapons days before the Oct. 1, 2017 massacre, during which he killed 58 people and injured hundreds.

Some of the videos show Paddock interacting with staff and having his luggage helped up to his room.

On “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Catherine Lombardo, an attorney for victims of the massacre, said lawyers have been asking for months for MGM to release the surveillance footage, so she was shocked to see only a small fraction of the footage released to The New York Times.

“I think it’s a PR stunt,” she said. “Remember, there are over 700 hours of video. Why did they just choose these five minutes? Where’s the rest of the video? Why now?”

She said although the video leaves many unanswered questions, it was “shocking” to see how confident and casual Paddock was to ask the valet and bellhops to help him bring his 21 pieces of luggage — filled with weapons and ammunition — to his room.

“He knew that the security at the Mandalay Bay, there was no security. And in today’s day and age, we already know that in Las Vegas, the casinos’ security teams are trained in all kinds of things to detect the indicators of what to look for,” Lombardo said.

She said that her clients and the public want answers and MGM should release the rest of the surveillance footage.

“They have so much more that we’ve been asking for,” she said. “We’re waiting.”
